Event Details

Kansas City is known for its barbecue and jazz, but you may be surprised at some of the lesser known secrets of the greater KC area. Anne Kniggendorf, author of Secret Kansas City: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure and longtime Kansas Citian, will share some of these hidden gems and trivia tidbits she discovered while writing the book. There will be a Q&A session and book signing at the end of the event, with copies available for purchase. Attendees will have a chance to win copies of the book.

Anne is a staff writer and editor for the Kansas City Public Library. She’s also the author of Secret Kansas City (Reedy Press, Sept. 2020) and a Kansas City-based freelance writer who is a regular contributor to KCUR 89.3 (NPR in Kansas City), and sometimes to the Kansas City Star and The Pitch. Anne is a graduate of St. John’s College, Santa Fe, and has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing/Media Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she serves on the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board. She is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
