What can the movies of yesterday tell us about the “world of tomorrow” - especially when that world is here today? Join film professor and filmmaker Matt Jacobson to look at how the 2020s were envisioned in pivotal science-fiction films like The Terminator, Soylent Green, and Metropolis, among others.

About the presenter: Matt Jacobson is a Professor in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of Kansas. He primarily teaches Film and Video production classes, including Music Video Production and Experimental Film and Video Production, and has been teaching at KU since August of 1999. He is also a working cinematographer (and frequent collaborator with Academy-Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Willmott), an avid science fiction fan, and an internationally-award-winning science-fiction model maker.
