Program Description
Event Details
The National African American Read-In is the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. During the month of February, schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, community and professional organizations host read-in events bringing community members together to share poetry, literary excerpts and/or original works by African American authors.
MNU Library, MNU’s Diversity Advisory Council, and the Olathe Public Library will co-host Olathe’s 3rd Annual Celebration of this event for the campus and community. All members of the campus and broader community are welcome to submit 1-2 literary works that they would like to read during the event to library@mnu.edu. Literary works can be anything from poetry, to a novel excerpt, to a non-fiction excerpt, to a song. You may submit to read at the celebration. The deadline for accepting submissions is January 20th. A program/event timeline will be sent to all participants a week before each event, so that you will know the specific order you will read your excerpts.
