Program Description

Event Details

The National African American Read-In is the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. This specific celebration of this event is sponsored by MNU’s Mabee Library and Diversity Advisory Council, in partnership with the Olathe Public Library.

All members of the campus and broader community are welcome to submit 1-2 literary works that they would like to read during the event to library@mnu.edu. Literary works can be anything from poetry, to a novel excerpt, to a non-fiction excerpt, to a song.

The deadline for accepting submissions is January 31st. A program/event timeline will be sent to all participants a week before the event, so that you will know the specific order you will read your excerpts. Please also let us know if you have a time preference for your reading.
