The Bel Canto Duo was founded in 2016 by Darci Griffith Gamerl (oboe/English horn) and Grammy-nominated cellist, David Downing.
The classical crossover duo provide a rich tapestry of sound, with a variety of selections from original works, classical favorites, film, broadway and opera.
As award-winning performers & composers, Darci & David have collaboratively penned a number of commissions for film, documentaries & most recently, a commemorative commission by the National Willa Cather Center.
BCD’s album, Angel’s Share, a full-length tour de force, features the Four Cather Tableaux. The multi-movement work was inspired by select passages from the celebrated author. Other tracks include Sacred Waters, a 2022 commission featured in Nebraska Flatwater, directed by Adam Larsen.
